Ronneby GK

Task: Enhance the Brunnspark environment and the environmental experience, create alternative playing paths for more variety, and reduce round times.

Masterplan

This is a brief excerpt from the Masterplan:

"After studying the course and its 18 holes, I have 109 suggestions that will improve the overall experience for all player categories. These are attached in a separate document, along with a photo collage featuring pictures from the course, Ronneby Brunnspark, and other golf courses in similar environments to Ronneby Golf Club. My intention is to highlight what the environmental experience can consist of, what distinguishes a 'Brunnspark environment,' and what is possible to experience at Ronneby GK.

The environmental experience and the 'Brunnspark environment' are significantly enhanced.
New alternative playing paths are created for those who can only hit low shots.
Some green bunkers are replaced with short-cut grass, which makes it more challenging for skilled players but a bit easier for high handicappers (explained in more detail on-site).
The course as a whole becomes more varied.
Many holes become faster to play.
Several holes also become visually clearer from the tee.

Regarding the 'problem holes' 7 and 12, there are several different alternatives for both. These are presented briefly in the course guide images. We will discuss the various options on-site during the course walk."

Report from course visit on June 9, 2020, at Ronneby Golf Club.

Firstly, I want to mention that it was really enjoyable to see how the course has evolved since I presented my suggestions to you in October 2018. You've done fantastic work, especially in enhancing the environmental experience and the Brunnspark feeling. The condition of the playing surfaces has also improved significantly, and it was wonderful to see.

The day started with Pelle, Thomas, and Fredrik providing me with an oral overview of the Masterplan and telling me about what has been done and what's in progress. We then looked at the short game area, and I was informed about your plans there, which I agree with entirely. We then drove around the course, discussing each hole individually, what has been done, and future plans.
All 18 holes have become better with the work you've done so far!

Below are comments for each hole.

Hole 1.
It's great to see the difference in the environment around the clubhouse, putting green, and the path up to the first tee. Well done! Make sure to maintain it.
The environment around the tee and along the entire hole has improved significantly. Good job.
Your decision to replace the bunker with a foregreen slope is wise. When this work is carried out, it's essential to do the groundwork professionally. It must be compacted correctly to prevent future settling. If you feel a drawing is necessary, it can be created. A more cost-effective option is to make a proposal using tools like Photoshop, which can be done without a formal drawing through clear communication between me and the excavator operator, as well as marking the ground with height marks and indicators.
Move the tee marker!
Mowing lines on the fairway were adjusted on the left front side of the green.

Hole 2.
Incredible difference in the environmental experience. Well done. The new brush on the way up should be removed.
I agree with you that the bunker can be replaced with mowed playing surface. We discussed that the foregreen should meet 55mm rough to provide a stopping effect toward the out-of-bounds.
Mowing lines on the fairway were adjusted along the right side, and the foregreen was adjusted to emphasize the large rocks to the left of the green and make the green area a bit more 'lively.'"
