Åkagårdens GK

Task: 2019: Design and plan a new practice area. 2022: Development of a Masterplan.

Masterplan

A very small part of the Masterplan is shown below. In addition to explanatory text and images, I always provide a hole-by-hole analysis.

Hole-By-Hole Analysis

Hole 1:

An opening hole with poor symmetry. There is a bunker where one should aim off the tee!

  1. Remove the two outermost birch trees on the left to create more space.
  2. Trim a number of trees to make the green area visible from the fairway.
  3. Adjust the fairway more to the left after the dogleg to provide an entrance to the green from the left side.
  4. Highlight the stone cairn.
  5. Move a small oak tree near the stone cairn.
  6. Light rough behind the green for better framing and more color contrast.

Picture taken from the center of the green looking towards the tee. Here, it's much clearer that two trees need to be removed and replaced with fairway. It's too difficult for most players, which takes away the enjoyment of the game. The main thing is to have fun, right? Hole 1 should be "kind." It affects the rest of the round.
