Task: Inspection and report to elevate Hammarö Golfklubb to a top 50 ranked golf club in Sweden.
Inspection and Report
Here's a brief excerpt from the report:
5. What do we do with hole 4?
The hole is too long in its current form. The green would need to be three times larger to be playable for most golfers. If you shorten the hole to 125 meters from the 60 tee, 100 meters from the 57 tee, and 85 meters from the 48/42 tee, most golfers would be able to play it and find it enjoyable. Currently, it's too difficult for everyone, even elite players. Build new tees and adjust mowing lines and mowing heights around the green.
Of course, the green area could be redesigned, but I'm almost 100% certain that it's not necessary.
6. How do we get Hammarö to become a top 50 golf club in Sweden?
In terms of maintenance and finish, you are already in good standing compared to many others on that list. Have you hosted any major tournaments over the years?
I believe that many people aren't familiar with Hammarö Golfklubb because some of those on the evaluation panel simply haven't been here. I'm one of them, and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the course. I can request someone from Golf Digest or a representative from Golfa magazine to come and play the course. You can offer them a green fee, a nice lunch, and good conversation.
This could be a starting point, at least.
The practice areas can be further developed, as well as the clubhouse, restaurant, and club area. Currently, they don't match the quality of your course.
The course can be improved in several ways with minor efforts, primarily in terms of clarity and playability for all categories of golfers.
